Brillion’s Pull-Type Zone Commanders
Set Industry Standard for Vertical Tillage Tools

BRILLION, Wis. (January 19, 2004) — The new pull-type Zone Commanders from Brillion have raised the standards for productivity and durability in vertical tillage tools.

“Producers are embracing vertical tillage farming methods because they now see the results in increased yields and a healthier soil profile,” explains Mike Irish, general manager of the Farm Equipment Division of Brillion Iron Works. “Producers asked for a tool that will help them create optimum soil conditions for growth, and we answered with the Zone Commander.”

The pull-type Zone Commander is available in 6-, 8-, 10- and 12-shank models. Horsepower requirements are 40- to 80-hp per shank, depending on operating depth and soil conditions. Auto-reset shanks are set on standard 30-inch spacing.

Operating depths can be adjusted from 14 inches to 22 inches. Shallower operating depths are possible with additional hydraulic cylinder stops.

“We designed the Zone Commander with positive tongue weight even when the unit is equipped with disc closers, baskets, and a rear hitch” Irish says. “The longer tongue also allows for a tight turning radius at the end of fields.”

The Zone Commander is available in 6- and 8-shank solid frame models or can be ordered in 8-, 10- and 12-shank wing-fold models. “Wing kits can be added to the 6- and 8-shank models if a grower’s needs change, offering increased versatility,” Irish says.

Brillion’s proven Auto-Reset Shanks allow the Zone Commander to run virtually non-stop in the toughest conditions. Shank impact with soil obstructions is absorbed by the heavy-duty dual coil spring reset assembly and is further protected by a 3/4-inch shear bolt if pressures build beyond the 16-inch shank trip height.

Transport width ranges from 16 feet, 9 inches for the 6-shank model, to 21 feet, 9 inches for the 12-shank folding model. All have a road clearance of 17 inches for easy transport on country roads.
“ The Brillion Zone Commander is built for today’s producer,” Irish says. “We build all our equipment for years of dependable use in the most demanding of farming conditions.”
