Precise Seeding in Existing Stands

BRILLION, Wis. (April 25, 2001) – The industry’s best turfgrass seeder is now available as an overseeder. The new Overseeder from Brillion delivers precise seed placement with optimum seed-to-soil contact for vigorous overseeded stands. Golf course superintendents, sports turf managers and professional lawn care contractors will want a Brillion Overseeder for delivering hearty new stands of overseeded turfgrass into existing seasonal, outdated or less desirable varieties, and bare spots.

Brillion Overseeders come with a choice of curved fairway knives for minimal disturbance in existing turf or straight knives for a more aggressive, dethatching cut. Both feature 3/16-inch high-carbon heat-treated knives that are set on 2 9/32-inch spacings and can be adjusted to cut grooves at depths from 0 to 1.5 inches.

The Brillion Overseeder is three-point hitch mounted with PTO-driven knife cutters. The 4-foot model uses a Category I hitch that offsets the overseeder to the right for close-in work and the 6-foot model is centered behind the tractor using a Category I or Category II hitch.

The Brillion Overseeder combines superior seed placement with the famous Brillion seed metering system in a built-to-last Brillion package. Brillion’s larger Turfmaker II Micro-Meter feed cups boast precision fluted feed rolls to meter tall fescue seeds at rates from 24 to 462 pounds per acre and when the standard speed-up kit is installed, up to 924 pounds per acre. A seed agitator placed directly over the feed cups prevents seeds from bridging. Bluegrass rates are 24 to 389 pounds per acre, and up to 778 pounds per acre with the speed-up kit. Buyers have the option of a 4-foot wide model with 7-bushel hopper or a 6-foot wide model with 11-bushel hopper.

An optional Small Seed Box with smaller Turfmaker Micro-Meter feed cups permits overseeding of smaller seeds such as bent, rye, and centipede at lower rates either together with, or independently from, the standard large seedbox.
